In Florida, immediate filing is usually faster and preferred over name reservation.

Name Reservation and Immediate Filing

Florida does not require or encourage name reservations for LLCs. In fact, the Division of Corporations does not offer an official name reservation service for domestic entities. Instead, Florida allows you to secure a name by immediately filing the Articles of Organization.

This “first come, first filed” system means whoever submits the correct documents first—and pays the filing fee—gets the name.

However, if you need time to prepare documents or consult partners, consider using an informal workaround: draft your filing, save it, and submit it when ready. Filing as soon as possible gives you an advantage over others eyeing the same name.

Only foreign entities (those formed outside Florida) can reserve names officially using Form CR2E047.

Bottom line: Skip name reservation. File right away if the name is available.
